Fox Sports West:
Lane Kiffin could not escape the noise.
After USCs 22-13 loss to Notre Dame on Saturday night, cheers and other boisterous shouts from the Fighting Irish locker room reverberated through the walls during Kiffin's postgame news conference.
Later, when Kiffin was readying to leave the stadium in his car, Notre Dames massive equipment truck sat nearby idling and rumbling in the Coliseum tunnel.
Then, of course, there was the sound of USC fans, screaming for Kiffins head after the Trojans finished the regular season by losing four of their last five games to end up 7-5.
The loss to Notre Dame, coming a week after a loss to UCLA, marked the first time since 1995 that the Trojans were swept by their rivals.
After the UCLA loss, USC Athletic Director Pat Haden told Bill Plaschke of The Times: Lane is my head coach, 150, now and hopefully for a long time.
Asked late Saturday if the situation was the same after the Notre Dame loss, Kiffin said, Yes. And I'm saying we've got to get better, we need to do a better job. And what we've got to do is sign the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.
Kiffin described the Trojans finish which included losses to Arizona, Oregon, UCLA and Notre Dame as a horrible five weeks. We were right there at 6-1, ready to go to 7-1, and screwed up.
Kiffin said his postgame address to his team touched on several points.
I just thanked the seniors, for what theyve been through and the hard work, Kiffin said. We talked about finishing strong academically, and well figure out the rest.
USC is bound for a bowl game next month that will be far from Bowl Championship Series glamour.
Kiffin said he was not concerned about his players motivation.
Thats so far from now, he said. Im not worried about it.

Notre Dame’s goal-line stand for the ages was also a colossal USC failure
Notre Dame is back on top of the football world, and they can thanks some friendly calls from the officials in the Pitt and Stanford games for helping them get there. They can also thank USC boy wonder Lane Kiffin for his awful playcalling and clock management at the end of Saturday’s game for a major assist.

Postgame: Wittek and Pullard
USC quarterback Max Wittek and linebacker Hayes Pullard answer questions from the media following USC's 22-13 loss to Notre Dame.
Lane Kiffin cost USC the game, not Max Wittek
Lane Kiffin’s play calling at the end of the USC vs Notre Dame game was absolutely atrocious. USC was down by one score with 5:58 left in the 4th quarter and a shot to beat the number 1 Irish. Kiffin started the drive with a great pass from first start freshman Max Wittek to Marqise Lee for 53 yards to the Notre Dame 2 yardline, that’s right, THE TWO. USC then committed a false...
Real quick on Lane Kiffin, the atrocious decision maker
So, let me get this straight…
USC — specifically AD Pat Haden — is bringing back next season a football coach who, despite the wealth of talent the storied SC football program attracts, has accumulated a decidedly mediocre 7-5 record this season; who, even with the enviable offensive weapons he has at his disposal, couldn’t figure out how to get in the end zone in four chances...

And that culture came from Carroll and persists under Kiffin. I watch 5-6 games every week, including great teams like Alabama, Oregon, Ohio St, Oklahoma, Stanford and nobody, absolutely nobody acts like SC. They are the U of Miami thugs of the 2000's era.
