Lane Kiffin could not escape the noise. After USCs 22-13 loss to Notre Dame on Saturday night, cheers and other boisterous shouts from the Fighting Irish locker room reverberated through the walls during Kiffin's postgame news conference. Later, when Kiffin was readying to leave the stadium in his car, Notre Dames massive equipment truck sat nearby idling and rumbling in the Coliseum tunnel. Then, of course, there was the sound of USC fans, screaming for Kiffins head after the Trojans finished the regular season by losing four of their last five games to end up 7-5. The loss to Notre Dame, coming a week after a loss to UCLA, marked the first time since 1995 that the Trojans were swept by their rivals. After the UCLA loss, USC Athletic Director Pat Haden told Bill Plaschke of The Times: Lane is my head coach, 150, now and hopefully for a long time. Asked late Saturday if the situation was the same after the Notre Dame loss, Kiffin said, Yes. And I'm saying we've got to get bett...

  • Really!!?!?!! You've got to be kidding me!!! I've been a lifelong USC Fan. I'm 42 years old, and I actually have supported Kiffin since he took over. I've hated his dad as a coordinator since day 1, as he's terrible. BUT now, after Saturday, what an absolute disaster as an offensive coordinator. He blew that game, and his future. He should be gone, after losing the last five contests. He has ruined his reputation, and that of the University. If he isn't fired, Haden should walk.
  • abnada, let me tell you since you're only 42. SC under John McKay and John Robinson had the same talent that Kiffin and Carroll have had. The difference is the players under McKay and Robinson weren't arrogant, unsportsmanlike jerks. If the SC players spent as much time being good, smart football players instead of acting like trash talking, gangstas they might actually win more games.
And that culture came from Carroll and persists under Kiffin. I watch 5-6 games every week, including great teams like Alabama, Oregon, Ohio St, Oklahoma, Stanford and nobody, absolutely nobody acts like SC. They are the U of Miami thugs of the 2000's era.
