By Matthew HagerBuckeyeSports.com Ohio State linebacker Storm Klein spent much of the spring sidelined because of injuries. Now the senior has something else that could keep him off the field. Klein pleaded not guilty Saturday morning to two charges stemming from an incident the previous day. According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, Klein was arrested at his apartment on Mobile Drive in Columbus. He was charged with domestic violence and assault, both misdemeanors. Klein was represented by a public defender after spending the night in jail. He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to not have contact with the alleged victim, as well as to not have further acts of violence, not consume alcohol andor drugs nor possess a firearm. A temporary protection order was also granted against Klein. Klein, a three-year letterman, started 10 games for the Buckeyes last season but was limited during the spring. Sophomore Curtis Grant, a former five-star recruit, emerged as Kleins replacement at middle linebacker and was listed ahead of Klein in Urban Meyers post-spring depth chart. Klein is the latest Buckeye to run into legal troubles during the offseason. Senior tight end Jake Stoneburner and junior offensive tackle Jack Mewhort were charged with misdemeanors after allegedly urinating on the side of a building in Shawnee Hills, Ohio, the weekend of the Memorial golf tournament. Meyer suspended the offensive starters and removed their scholarships for the summer. Meyer also dismissed a pair of players defensive backs Dominic Clarke and DerJuan Gambrell in January. Clarke was charged with drunken driving and Gambrell was dismissed for an unspecified violation of team rules. Junior tailback Jaamal Berry and Ohio State parted ways in February as Berry dealt with an October assault charge. Ohio State has not officially commented on the Klein case.
