The first two years of the Lane Kiffin head coaching era at USC was arguably a quiet one. But he’s quickly making up for those quiet first two years this season.
In a year where his preseason #1 squad should be grabbing headlines, it has been Kiffin grabbing them instead. In a matter of a month, Kiffin made headlines with his successful pursuit of Penn State running back Silas Redd and relinquishing his coaches poll vote after he was caught lying about whether or not he would vote USC #1.
And now, a day before USC’s home opener against former Hawaii, Kiffin has announced that visiting teams will not be allowed to hold walk-throughs at the Coliseum.
“It shouldn’t be a big deal,” Kiffin said. “We don’t go to other people’s stadiums.”
Kiffin claims that the decision was based solely on “preserving the field.” In fact, Kiffin says that the Trojans held a mock game on their campus practice field instead of the Coliseum for the same reason.
