No Guts, No Glory:
The first two years of the Lane Kiffin head coaching era at USC was arguably a quiet one. But he’s quickly making up for those quiet first two years this season.
In a year where his preseason #1 squad should be grabbing headlines, it has been Kiffin grabbing them instead. In a matter of a month, Kiffin made headlines with his successful pursuit of Penn State running back Silas Redd and relinquishing his coaches poll vote after he was caught lying about whether or not he would vote USC #1.
And now, a day before USC’s home opener against former Hawaii, Kiffin has announced that visiting teams will not be allowed to hold walk-throughs at the Coliseum.
“It shouldn’t be a big deal,” Kiffin said. “We don’t go to other people’s stadiums.”
Kiffin claims that the decision was based solely on “preserving the field.” In fact, Kiffin says that the Trojans held a mock game on their campus practice field instead of the Coliseum for the same reason.

So much for Southern California hospitality.
Just in time for Norm Chows return to the Coliseum as Hawaiis head coach, USC Coach Lane Kiffin confirmed Thursday that USC would no longer make the stadium available to visiting teams for walk-throughs the day before games.

Video: "Kiffin packing Rose Bowls"
Most coaches and players will tell you that it’s not about lighting up the stat sheet or looking good — it’s simply about winning games. An ugly win is still a win and that’s all that matters, right? Not in L.A. Like any other coach in the NCAA, Lane Kiffin wants his No. 1-ranked Trojans to go undefeated this season. He doesn’t just want to win, however. He wants his guys...
Head Coach: LANEY McKIFFIN (18-7 , entering 3rd season) The Story: It’s been a couple of Trojan-free seasons in college football. It’s not that the program hasn’t won some key games, or that good ol’ Pistol Pete Carroll ran off to Seattle, it’s that the NCAA laid the cold side of their hand to the [...]

A USC Trojan fan with too much time on his hands happened to make this Lane Kiffin-Mike Jones mash up video set to the song “Still Tipping.” The lyrics are hilarious. A sample includes:

The title of course is “Still Kiffin.” I enjoyed it.

LOS ANGELES ---Lane Kiffin says there's nothing he ever finds himself doing that allows him to think "Wow, that's the way Norm Chow does it."
That's not to say Kiffin doesn't have any respect for his old boss.
When he speaks of Chow, he does so with high praise.
"(He's) one of the greatest minds to coach college football," Kiffin said. ...

It was a typical post-practice meeting between USC head coach Lane Kiffin and his players on Sunday, but it had the most unusual ending - at least for one player, when Kiffin told walk-on punter Kyle Negrete that he didn't need to worry about buying books on Monday...
USC head coach Lane Kiffin talks about the need to do more than just win in Los Angeles, because sometimes under the bright lights and big signs of Hollywood, just winning isn't enough.
"Prep Not Hype" has been the phrase of the fall for USC. On Saturday, they proved it to be true, handing Hawaii a season opening loss 49-10. USC Coach Lane Kiffin and quarterback Matt Barkley spoke with the media following the win.
Silas Redd signed with USC Coach Lane Kiffin a week before the opening of fall camp as headlines read that he was the missing piece found to a national championship puzzle. Redd made his debut in front of a sold-out Coliseum on Saturday.
USC walked away from their season opener against Hawai'i with a 49-10 win. After the game, we sat down with head coach Lane Kiffin and players Marqise Lee, Matt Barkley, and Hayes Pullard.
Our number one ranked team may come as no surprise to many. The USC Trojans are just ending a two-year probation period where they weren’t allowed to play in the Pac 12 championship game or a bowl game. While it has had an affect on their depth, the Trojans are loaded and in the questionable Pac 12 they should do just fine.
Lane Kiffin is in his third season...
