Louisville DE Ashton Gillotte Named to CBS Sports' Midseason All-America Team
USA TODAY Sports

The 2023 college football has now reached its midway point, and as a result, many publications have began to release their midseason All America teams. CBS Sports is no exception, publishing theirs on Tuesday.

Among the 27 total selections voted on by CBS Sports' panel of college football experts was Louisville defensive end Ashton Gillotte. He was one of three players from the ACC to make their Midseason All-America team, joining Duke cornerback Myles Jones and Miami kick returner Brashard Smith.

The 6-foot-3 and 270-pound edge rusher has had an incredible first half to his junior campaign. In seven games, he has collected 8.0 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and 24 tackles overall. He leads the Cardinals in all but the latter category.

The Boca Raton, Fla. native's sack count is tied for seventh in the FBS and fourth in the Power Five, while his tackle for loss total is good for 28th nationally and 16th in the Power Five. Additionally, according to Pro Football Focus, his 33 quarterback pressures are good for fourth in the FBS, and second only to Alabama's Dallas Turner in the Power Five.

No. 21 Louisville (6-1, 3-1 ACC) heads into their bye week, and will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 28 when they host No. 16 Duke. Kickoff time and television designation for the matchup will be announced this weekend.
