The players elected four captains for this season. They are; Courtney Avery, Cam Gordon, Taylor Lewan and Jake Ryan. Jeremy Gallon Jeremy Gallon has caught a pass in 26 consecutive games. Gallon’s streak is good for the 5th best in school history. He needs to catch a pass in 30 straight games to tie Mercury Hayes and move into 4th place. The all-time record is 38 consecutive games by Braylon Edwards. Teamrankings.com projects Michigan will win 42-10. numberFire has Michigan winning 41-17. Michigan is favored to win by 31.5 points. Michigan enters the season ranked #17 in both polls. Michigan is 3-0 all-time vs. Central Michigan. Brady Hoke is the first Michigan coach to go undefeated at home during his first two seasons since Fielding Yost (1901-02). In a recent draft preview at MMQB.com, Taylor Lewan was projected as the #3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. If Lewan starts in at least half the games this season, he will become just the 9th Michigan Wolverine to be a four year starter on the offensive line. Brendan Gibbons has made has successfully converted his last 13 field goal attempts. He needs one more to tie Remy Hamilton for the school record. Here is Michigan’s roster breakdown for the 2013 season; 58 freshmen, 23 sophomores, 16 juniors and 16 seniors. Michigan returns six starters on defense and five on offense. Of the 12 players to score a touchdown for Michigan last season, 9 return for the 2013 campaign. Michigan returns three of the top four leading tacklers from last season; Jake Ryan, Demsond Morgan and Thomas Gordon. Last season, Michigan’s defense led the nation in allowing the fewest amount of plays over 20 yards (35). Fitzgerald Toussaint ranks 29th in school history with 1,642 career rushing yards. Senior safety Thomas Gordon has recorded 171 career tackles. Michigan’s 2015 recruiting class is off to a great start with 2 5 star players among 6 commitments. Dennis Norfleet will not only be Michigan’s primary kick-returner this year, he will also be the primary punt-returner and has moved to receiver on offense. Devin Gardner started five games at quarterback last season and tallied 18 touchdowns (11 passing, 7 rushing). Michigan has finished back-to-back seasons ranked in the top-20 in total defense for the first time since 1997-98.
