Overview- Everyone knew 2011 would be an adjustment for Denard Robinson and the Michigan offense. Not only would they be implementing an entirely new coaching staff, but would be totally switching gears from the wide open spread offense to a more conventional pro-style offense. The one constant that most figured would remain was that “Shoelace” would still be the focal point of the offense. New offensive coordinator Al Borges knew what he had in Robinson and was willing to adjust the offense to emphasize the QB’s strengths of running the football. Not only did Robinson stay true to form, but he had help. Well, that help came in the form of sophomore RB Fitzgerald Toussaint. Both Fitz and Shoelace ran for over 1,000 yards on the year and helped the Wolverines to an 11-2 record and a Sugar Bowl victory.
