Just a few days ago, the Wolverines lost a major defensive player — safety Keon Sabb — to the Alabama Crimson Tide via the transfer portal. Now, heading into spring ball, rumors have been flying that Michigan football superstar Will Johnson (cornerback) could be joining him, but those rumors have since been shut down.
In the age of NIL and the transfer portal, you can never be 100 percent sure that a player — regardless of how popular or talented they are — is going to stick around for the following season. That said, according to reports on the father of rising junior cornerback Will Johnson, the rumor that Alabama was going to flip the Michigan star is “All Cap.” (below)

During his time with Michigan football thus far, Will Johnson has appeared in 25 games (16 starts) at cornerback, leading Michigan to a few impressive seasons, including a national title run in 2023-24. In 2022, he was the Wolverines’ Defensive Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American; he followed this impressive performance with an even better one in 2023 when he was named a First-Team All-American.
Keeping Johnson is major for Michigan football and a great sign heading into the 2024 season — year one of the Sherrone Moore era.
