Michigan State football hosted an interesting transfer this past weekend as former Michigan linebacker Semaj Bridgeman was on campus.

How the tables have turned. Just days after it was reported that Jaden Mangham would be taking a visit to Michigan, Michigan State football hosted a former Wolverine linebacker on an official visit.

According to his Twitter, Semaj Bridgeman was in East Lansing this weekend.

Bridgeman is a surprising visitor for fans who were upset about the Mangham news this week because it feels like a trade-off. Michigan State gets a visit from a former four-star Wolverine linebacker and Michigan gets one from a former four-star Spartan safety. It’s not often you see rival players take an interest in transferring to the other school, but we’re seeing two visits in one week. That probably won’t happen again.

Jonathan Smith and Michigan State are looking for some defensive help and Bridgeman would be a nice addition to the linebacking unit. The Spartans just added a linebacker transfer from Miami this past week and now they’re hosting a Michigan transfer who was a four-star out of high school.

And Bridgeman has four years of eligibility remaining after not playing in 2023 and getting redshirted. That would be a nice addition along with Marcellius Pulliam from Miami who has three years left. Plus, Jordan Hall has three years of eligibility left. This linebacking unit is going to be good for a while, especially if the Spartans can add Bridgeman and it would almost make up for the potential loss of Mangham to Michigan (he’s also visiting Ohio State and Nebraska).

Bridgeman was ranked the No. 302 overall recruit and 26th-best linebacker in the 2023 class, according to 247Sports. He would be a more than welcomed addition to the defense.

This rivalry just got even more interesting this week.
