How do you inspire a football team on the road?
For Beavers coach Mike Riley, he may have just found the secret. Unfortunate for his wallet, it seems to be catching on as a trend for the team.
Following the road win at UCLA, Oregon State’s coach took his football team out to an after game dinner of In-N-Out.
The famous burger chain doesn’t have any restaurants in Oregon, so it was a true treat for the players.
Riley bought 200 double-doubles and fries for his guys. He even tweeted about it, including a picture.
This caused a strange outrage across the twitterverse. Many were sure that this had to be some violation of the NCAA rules.
Of course, buying your players a pre or post game meal does not violate NCAA rules. So, don’t worry Beaver fans, no sanctions coming our way.

A week later, after a well fought battle with Arizona resulted in a win, Riley once again bought his team some after game grub. The restaurant? You guessed it, In-N-Out.
While many find the burger chain special, it’s hard not to see the impact it’s had on this Beavers team.
They’re enjoying their best start in over ten years, going 3-0 with two wins over ranked teams and two road wins.
Meanwhile, the legend of Mike Riley continues to grow.
Considered one of the nicest guys in college sports, it’s not hard to see why. Granted these games have been just as big for him as they have been for the team.
The win over UCLA tied him for most wins in OSU history, with the Arizona game making him the winningest coach in Beaver football history.
Unfortunate for the Beavers, they return home this weekend to square off with the Washington State Cougars.
With no In-N-Out near Corvallis, Riley will have to find some other way to motivate his boys.
