In-N-Out pulls through again for Beavers

How do you inspire a football team on the road?

For Beavers coach Mike Riley, he may have just found the secret. Unfortunate for his wallet, it seems to be catching on as a trend for the team.

Following the road win at UCLA, Oregon State’s coach took his football team out to an after game dinner of In-N-Out.

The famous burger chain doesn’t have any restaurants in Oregon, so it was a true treat for the players.

Riley bought 200 double-doubles and fries for his guys. He even tweeted about it, including a picture.

This caused a strange outrage across the  twitterverse. Many were sure that this had to be some violation of the NCAA rules.

Of course, buying your players a pre or post game meal does not violate NCAA rules. So, don’t worry Beaver fans, no sanctions coming our way.

A week later, after a well fought battle with Arizona resulted in a win, Riley once again bought his team some after game grub. The restaurant? You guessed it, In-N-Out.

While many find the burger chain special, it’s hard not to see the impact it’s had on this Beavers team.

They’re enjoying their best start in over ten years, going 3-0 with two wins over ranked teams and two road wins.

Meanwhile, the legend of Mike Riley continues to grow.

Considered one of the nicest guys in college sports, it’s not hard to see why. Granted these games have been just as big for him as they have been for the team.

The win over UCLA tied him for most wins in OSU history, with the Arizona game making him the winningest coach in Beaver football history.

Unfortunate for the Beavers, they return home this weekend to square off with the Washington State Cougars.

With no In-N-Out near Corvallis, Riley will have to find some other way to motivate his boys.

Sean Mannion: Is he the best QB OSU’s ever had?

The best? Well, is he? That’s a good question, and a tough one. The Oregon State Beavers have had plenty of prolific quarterbacks. There’s Terry Baker, the only Beaver to ever win a Heisman Trophy. There’s Sean Canfield, whose senior season had the Beavers one game shy of the Rose Bowl. Then there’s Derek Anderson, who owns just about every Oregon State passing record...

(Updates. With AP Photos.) By ANNE M. PETERSON AP Sports Writer The whispers about job security aren't an issue for Oregon State coach Mike Riley any more. The amiable Beavers coach has led his team to a 3-0 start and the No. 14 spot in the AP rankings. It's a dramatic turnaround for a team that won only three games last season. GAME COLUMN: Arizona was the test OSU passed

WELL, THAT WAS a doozy. Mike Riley’s title as the most successful coach in Oregon State football history was not served on a silver platter on Saturday night. A Connor Hamlett touchdown snag gave OSU a late lead – a lead which they toyed with, even on into the final seconds of the game...

Desmond Howard, “Sippin’ On Beaver Juice”

The folks over at Deadspin noticed a particularly strange quote from College Gameday’s Desmond Howard, where he lets us all know how he’s not buying the Oregon State Beavers and unlike his colleague, David Pollack, he’s not sippin’ that “Beaver juice.” Then this happened. Oregon State is currently ranked No. 1 in two of the BCS computers

While you and everyone else who has paid attention to college football this season sees Alabama as the far and away #1 team in America, two important pieces of the BCS equation does not. And though it’s early and things will change, at this particular junction of the season, Oregon State is currently the #1 in America according to two computers used in the BCS formula. The Beavers...

(Eds: Corrects Oregon State's ranking. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By JOHN MARSHALL AP College Football Writer Oregon State has been one of college football's unexpected stories after winning its first three games. BYU Debuts Blackout Uniforms

BYU is debuting their new Nike “Blackout” uniforms on October 13th against the Oregon State Beavers. Fans of the Cougars are also encouraged to wear black as part of a stadium blackout. Alternative uniforms can range from the good to bad to atrocities. Also see. And don’t forget. However, I think BYU’s blackout uniforms look very good. I reserve final judgement until...

OSU v. WSU: Position breakdown, who has edge?

ON PAPER, Saturday’s game against WSU is a total mismatch in Oregon State's favor -- but OSU cannot afford to get cocky despite three headline making wins, two of which were on the road. Expect the unexpected in the Pac-12. And the Cougs will be looking to give the Beavs a dose of exactly that, on the prowl and hoping to upset No.14/17 OSU in Corvallis. So who has the edge? Glad you asked...
