Katherine Webb, perhaps the most famous girlfriend in the history of college football, made an appearance on the Today show on Wednesday morning. In an exclusive interview with Matt Lauer, Webb says she believes that no apology was necessary from ESPN for what some perceived as inappropriate comments made by Brent Musburger during the broadcast of the national championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame on Monday night.
Webb says she had little idea that she was the spark igniting a firestorm online as cameras focused upon her as she sat in the stands and watched boyfriend AJ McCarron and his Crimson Tide teammates obliterate the Fighting Irish. Now that she has learned that she was the object of Musburger’s admiration, she is more “flattered by the attention” than anything and that Musburger’s comments did not rise to the level of being disrespectful, nor did those comments require ESPN to apologize, something the network did via a statement issued on Tuesday.
Webb, when discussing her reaction to Musburger's comments about her as well as AJ McCarron's mother, told Lauer: “I think the media has been real unfair to him. I think that if he would have said something along the lines of we were hot or sexy or made any derogatory statements like that, I think that would have been a little bit different. But the fact that he said we were both beautiful and gorgeous, I don’t see why any woman wouldn’t be flattered by that. So, I think that they’ve been a little bit unfair to him.”
Lauer followed up, asking Webb, “So no reason for ESPN to apologize in your opinion?” Webb doesn't believe so, saying, "You know I don’t think it was needed, honestly. I mean, of course I appreciate it but at the same I don’t think that I needed an apology.”

Sincerely, Motor Mouth
@ lazer26...you need your glasses adjusted an yes or perhaps your perspective...this lady is classy and gorgeous!!
A visitor.
2. Say someone is ugly and you are mean-spirited. Say someone is beautiful and you are a creepy letch? She's a beauty queen, after all.
3. Natural selection has been around for a very long time, and if you weren't a good hunter/gatherer/provider your genes had less of a chance of being passed on. AJ looks like he has some pretty good genes.
4. Just because you are beautiful - and all "masculine" comments aside, she is gorgeous - doesn't mean you are not smart. What do Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Stephen Hawking and Jill St.John all have in common? I.Q.'s in the 160's.
5. Males are always going to look at pretty females. If you don't believe that, just review the clip from the game and concentrate on the boy to Katherin Webb's left.
6. It seems like ESPN was too quick to pull the trigger with their apology. You may not like Brent Musberger for other reasons, but this shouldn't be one of them.
But the problem is that she opened her mouth and we all realized she's not a mindless bimbo. She's smart, articulate, capable of handling a media "sensation" with a calm deamenor and a sense of "royalty" that would have befit Diana. I am clueless who she picks as a husband/partner ... quarterback, doctor, political leader, or whatever. But I'll bet it'll be a smart decision ... a "how can I change the World" decision.
Murdog
In fact, I am a former student of Texas A&M University and well, we all know how 'bama fared against us this season; our first year in the SEC.
And the people knockin' on Webb's looks? Probably are women; jealousy isn't a very cute trait.
What a lucky guy AJ is.
Boy, is ESPN not tuned-in to thw current USA culture. It is about time some sport broadcasters got it right: and Musberger
did a service to ALL of the TV viewers. Good job " Brent ".
