LOS ANGELES -- As freshman linebacker Myles Jack wound down his session with the media Monday, a few last questions came from the back of the scrum. "Hey Myles, how'd you like playing running back?" Jack laughed and shook his head. "It was cool. A nice little changeup, you know," Jack said. "So you're comfortable back there? You wouldn't mind playing it in a couple packages?" "If that's what you want, then I'm with it," Jack said. It's clear that Brett Hundley's future is brighter as a quarterback than as a reporter, but what does lack some clarity at the moment is No. 13 UCLA's running game. Jack became an all-purpose back in the Bruins' 31-26 victory at Arizona Saturday night. He played some running back in high school and was recruited by SEC powers like South Carolina and Georgia at the position, but chose UCLA and the Pac-12 because of his preference to play linebacker. And he has been a dominant force at the position in only his first season as a Bruin, with 63 tackles (11 for loss), one interception and team-high nine pass broken up. Jack has helped make the UCLA front seven one of the toughest in the Pac-12 and has also been used in pass coverage. It seems there's nothing Jack can't do. Against Arizona, he ran for 120 yards and broke several tackles as he displayed speed and tenacity as a runner on a 66-yard touchdown burst. "It was just situations where I had an alley or a crease based off of the blocking scheme," Jack said. "The way the situation was set up was perfect, all I really had to do was run."
