The last time we visited college football's Bottom 5, we had the New Mexico State Aggies just outside, hopefully holding them at bay, giving them the benefit of the doubt. No more. Sorry Aggies, you belong here. You are who we thought you were, and we are NOT letting you off the hook.We also have some epic showdowns coming up that could determine if some teams are finally able to break the losing habit.1. New Mexico State Aggies (0-4)I was really hoping the program would show some improvement against UTEP. Alas, I was let down. Truthfully, I've become something of a fan. The Aggies are like your Uncle Morris that thinks he's turning it around, only to come crawling up your steps on a Saturday night after too many drinks. You want the best for him, but deep down, you know how it's going to turn out. The Aggies lost by 21 to the UTEP Miners, and then lost to a re-energized UCLA program 13-59. Siiiiigh. And just to make matters worse, the Aggies are 0-4 against the spread. Even the experts are underestimating their futility.Current losing streak: 15 games2. Southern Miss Golden Eagles (0-3)Saved by the bye week, the Golden Eagles didn't lose this week. They play at Boise State this weekend, so I don't expect a change in their winning percentage.Current losing streak: 11 games3. Idaho Vandals (0-4)Inexplicably, the Vandals put up 35 points in a losing effort to Northern Illinois a few weekends ago. Then last week, they fell back into form with a 42-0 drubbing at the hands of Washington State. Even including the 35 point anomaly, they're still only averaging 12.8 points per contest, but are surrendering (appropriate, no?) 42.3 points. Going back to the 2011 season, the Vandals are 3-25. Their lone win last year was against the aforementioned New Mexico State Aggies. Poor, poor Aggies.Current losing streak: 10 games4. Florida International Golden Panthers (0-4)You know how you win at football? You try to score more points than your opponent. Why are the Golden Panthers so bad? Because they're not scoring points. They've been shutout twice this season, and have only scored 10 and 13 points in their other two games. Last weekend, they got treated like a division III practice squad in a 72-0 whipping by Teddy Bridgewater and the rest of his Louisville Cardinal teammates. FIU recorded two first downs. Two. All game. Let that marinate. Total yards? 30. 3 rushing yards on 34 attempts. That is all kinds of awful. But don't get down Golden Panther fans. Next up is Southern Miss. It's the Bottom 5 Game of the Week!Current losing streak: 5 games5. South Florida Bulls (0-4)Let's just look at who they have lost to: McNeese State, 53-21, in their first game, and most recently, to Florida Atlantic, 28-10. Hey Bulls, pull up a chair. Get comfy. Bathrooms are down the hall on the right, with your room on the left. Might as well change your address at the post office, too.Current losing streak: 5On the outside looking in:6A. Temple Owls (0-3)The last time we saw Temple, they lost to Fordham, 29-30. This weekend, they travel to Idaho in another meeting of Bottom 5 contenders. Then they play the Teddy Bridgewaters. That's gonna be ugly.Current losing streak: 4 games6B. Massachusetts Minutemen (0-4)Thankfully, the Minutemen begin their MAC schedule this week with a trip to Bowling Green. But. There's always a "but." Bowling Green is 3-1. Look fort the Minutemen to remain in or near the Bottom 5.Current losing streak: 6 games
