I apologize ahead of time for referring to Manti Te’o as Manti Teo moving forward in this post. For whatever reason, the software I use to create this website, and the SEO plugin I incorporate to get it indexed in the search engines have issues with that apostrophe. I don’t know why. I’ve tried numerous things to fix it, but it just won’t work. I apologize in advance for any perceived misspelling and cultural insensitivity. Now let’s get to Manti Teo not getting drafted last night and why. NFL Network ran a puff piece on Manti Teo right before the NFL Draft started. It extolled the virtues of Teo. It said what a great kid he is. Hooey. Either he’s dumber than Ryan Locthe to fall for the Lennay Kakua hoax or he’s Machiavellian enough to take part in exploiting a fake cancer death to further his career. He’s either a fool or a knave. Evil or Stupid. Either way it’s a red flag. He’s got baggage. I’ve interviewed Manti Teo a few times, and for whatever reason, he’s HORRIBLE. Whether he wants to be intentionally boring by design, or he’s just a boring dude I don’t know. All I know is he’s right up there with Andrew Wiggins and Cody Zeller as All-Useless Soundbite Team. Cody Zeller, Andrew Wiggins and Manti Teo talking; or absolute silence: all four of these entities add the same value to your article. I also know that the Notre Dame media relations BOMBARDED MY INBOX all 2012 long with propaganda about how great Manti Teo is. Not just what a great college football player, but what a GREAT HUMAN BEING Manti Teo is. Suddenly, in January they went quiet on this topic for some reason. Notre Dame Media Relations also BOMBARDED MY INBOX all 2012 long with propaganda about how AWESOME THEIR COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAM is. Then they went dark for a few days starting around halftime of the title game against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Hmmm, I wonder why. On Wednesday, NFL Network’ leading draft expert Mike Mayock (coincidentally, the Notre Dame on NBC play-by-play guy) mock drafted  Teo to Chicago. As did Melissa Stark during the NFL Network group mock draft. Prompting me to then publish: I swear to God, I will “c*** punt” (CC Rebecca Martinson) the next person who mock drafts Teo to Chicago. Or you could take the more sensitive approach and quote No Doubt: I know just what you’re saying So please stop explaining Don’t tell me cause it hurts No no no no no Don’t speak I know what you’re thinking I don’t need your reasons Don’t tell me cause it hurts Thankfully, Teo didn’t get picked by my hometown Bears; who I actually have no feeling towards at all; but I just couldn’t stand the idea of that moron playing in my media market. We already have Tim Doyle, isn’t that bad enough? And more importantly, the team I actually care about, the New England Patriots, passed on Teo as well. As did every other NFL team with a draft pick. Manti Teo “hey, thanks for coming!” But I really thought Teo would go 25 to the Vikings. I was a bit surprised he didn’t make it to the first round. Paul M. Banks is the owner of The Sports Bank.net.
