(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By JEFF LATZKE AP College Football Writer While No. 5 Oklahoma sat idle over the weekend, the Sooners' chances to play for a national championship got a big boost.
Losses by previously unbeaten Stanford and Boise State moved Oklahoma (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) up to fifth in the BCS standings with a head-to-head meeting still to come against No. 2 Oklahoma State on Dec. 3.
Coach Bob Stoops says he started the week by telling his players what could lie ahead if they win out in their final three-game stretch. He first wants them to focus on Saturday night's game at No. 25 Baylor (6-3, 3-3).
The Sooners lost at home against Texas Tech and another loss would certainly wipe away their newly regained national championship chances.

WHEELS AREN'T IN MOTION
On the surface, Oklahoma linebacker Tom Wart’s tweet looks harmless. A few laughs, a QB jab and a meaningless thought about Landry Jones’ truck. Landry Jones was the victim of a tire-jacking Tuesday. Or just a really good prank.
Jones, Oklahoma's star quarterback, went out to his truck Tuesday afternoon to find that his tires were gone and his ride had been placed on cinder blocks. Jones even went to Twitter asking for help: "Can anyone find my tires?"

(Dancing in the Ruins is SWRT's look at the Big XII Conference. Or at least what's left of it.)
Okay, maybe those weird grid lines in the China's Gobi Desert don't qualify as ruins. But they do serve as a perfect metaphor for the seemingly bizarre future shape of the Big 12. (ABC News)
Texas is "a mess."
Because Mack Brown said so. (Rivals...
