Junior quarterback Blake Bell suffered a concussion during last week’s 48-10 win over Iowa State and is being held out as a precaution. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops named freshman quarterback Trevor Knight as the starter on Tuesday. The 6′-1″ 201 lb. Knight started the first two games of the season and completed 21 of 48 passes for 205 yds. and four touchdowns with three interceptions. He also gained 145 yds in 20 rushing attempts. Oklahoma won both games. Coach Stoops replaced the erratic freshman with the veteran Bell for the third game of the season and he started eight consecutive games. So far this year the robust 6′-6″ 252 lb. tight end look-alike has completed 130 of 217 passes for 1,508 yds. and 11 touchdowns with five interceptions. The one they call the “Belldozer” has also gained 255 yds. on 55 attempts. In his eight starts including the first part of the Iowa State game, Bell had a record of 6-2 with losses to Texas and Baylor. After playing backup for the last eight games,...
