Ollie Gordon Updated Heisman Trophy Odds For 2024 College Football Season
Nathan J. Fish-USA TODAY Sports

Could Ollie Gordon be in the running for the Heisman Trophy come the end of the season next year?

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are returning their entire offensive starting lineup a season after going 10-4 and winning a bowl game with a conference championship game appearance, too. The impressive season comes after starting the season 2-2 and opening the Big 12 schedule with a loss to Iowa State.

Evidently, the midseason turnaround came at the hands of Cowboys superstar Ollie Gordon. The team found their identity through the run game, which also can be credited to the offensive line, which had a massive improvement after the first few games.

Now, that entire starting offensive line is coming back, and the team added some depth through the portal and with recruits. With Kasey Dunn heading the offense again, he's got players he understands and those same players will be familiar in the system.

Even with all of that knowledge, the oddsmakers still only give Gordon +15000 odds to win the Heisman Trophy award, according to FanDuel. This leaves roughly 45 guys just ahead of Gordon in the odds to win the Heisman Trophy.

If Gordon didn't have a breakout season and finish No. 7 in the voting just this past season, this might make a bit more sense. Still, he posted 1,732 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns on 285 attempts over the course of the season. This included barely touching the ball in the first three games of the season.

With a full season of statistics, if Gordon can make improvements and post similar stats, there are not 45 better players in college football. He's fresh off a Doak Walker award win, citing he was the best player at his position.

Gordon will be primed to have another incredible season and with an established role from the beginning of the season, he's set up nicely to have no ceiling on his potential.
