Outback Bowl: Michigan Wolverines (8-4) and South Carolina Gamecocks (10-2) Jan. 1, 1 p.m. CT ESPN – Tampa, FL Player Swag Bag: $150 Best Buy gift card, Fossil watch, ring, cap, Outback Steakhouse gift card Michigan’s Season: Sr. QB/WR/RB Denard Robinson is the heart of the Wolverine’s offense. The month off should have allowed Robinson’s arm to heal and return his status to a passing threat as well as rusher/receiver. Robinson will likely share some snaps with QB Devin Gardner. Brady Hoke’s Michigan squad is ranked 10th nationally in total defense. Including 2nd in pass defense. The Michigan secondary may struggle with the suspension of starting CB JT Floyd. South Carolina’s Season: Connor Shaw will lead Steve Spurrier’s offense under center. However, So. QB Dylan Thompson will be ready to take some snaps should Shaw not be fully recovered from his injury. The Gamecocks RB Marcus Lattimore suffered a gruesome leg injury and will not appear. Kenny Miles and Mike Davis will attempt to fill the running back spot in Lattimore’s absence. The South Carolina defense is led by Jadeveon Clowney the So. All-American DE that leads the country with 13 sacks and is second in the country with 21.5 tackles for a loss. The Game: South Carolina is a 6 point favorite to win on New Years Day. Jadeveon Clowney may face a challenge if Michigan’s playmakers are healthy. If Clowney can contain Robinson it will be difficult for the Wolverines to persevere. Michigan’s secondary will have plenty of opportunity to prove it is the second best pass defense in the country against Spurrier’s offense. Will JT Floyd’s suspension be Michigan’s undoing? Or does Shoelace have another miracle finish within him?
