Athletic Director for the Arkansas Razorbacks, Jeff Long, is still reviewing the case concerning the future of head coach Bobby Petrino following his motorcycle accident last Sunday. Petrino initially lied that he was alone when it happened and has since been suspended since it came to light that he was with Jessica Dorrell, an employee of university and subordinate of Petrino.

Fans are concerned that Petrino, who has resurrected the football program, could be ousted for his actions. He has broken terms of his contract, so grounds for termination do exist. Fans are beginning to show support and have ready launched a Facebook page that others can join. It was up to about 7000 members at the time of this posting. The site encourages individuals to email Long in hopes of persuading him to keep Petrino.

There is also a planned rally tonight at the Broyles Complex to show loyalty to Petrino.

Long is not going to base his decision on what he fans want. He is more likely going go base it on financials, and Petrino has helped the bottom line like no other for the university. That happens when you reach two BCS bowls in 2 years playing in the most difficult division in all of college football. The Razorbacks will be considered favorites to reach another, and they have legitimate National Title hopes.

Support like this may work when coaches are being pursued by other teams, but not when it impacts the decision-making of the university.
