There was the prevailing idea that Louisville and Rutgers would be making some kind of statement: what that statement is... the HQ has no real clue... but some kind of statement about their place in the Bee-Cee-Ess... So much for that idea- on both fronts...and Charlie Strong's viability during Silly Season may have taken a hit... First, Teddy Bridgewater played with a broken bone in his wrist... which the HQ gives him due props for... But UConn beat Louisville in overtime- which will send the Cardinals plummeting in the rankings... ((HT: ESPN)) And, then, Pitt scored 21 unanswered in the second on their way to a 27-6 upset of Rutgers- who was ranked 21st at the time of the opening kickoff... Pitt, still left in some shambles from the Hurricane Todd Graham era, had to have Paul Chryst pick up some pieces... the Panthers, behind Ray Graham, are now 5-6... ((HT: ESPN))

Teddy Bridgewater Expected To Play On Thursday Despite Fractured Non-Throwing Wrist

Despite fracturing his wrist on Saturday against UConn, Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is expected to play on Thursday as the Cards travel to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers for the Big East Championship. Charlie Strong shared the unfortunate news with Drew Deener of WKRD radio following Saturday’s game. Bridgewater’s fractured wrist is on his non-throwing arm....

No. 19 Cards seeking 1st Senior Day win in 3 years

Louisville's seniors have a simple reason for wanting to win Saturday's home finale over Connecticut. It hasn't been done in a while. A victory would be the seniors' first in three tries under coach Charlie Strong. The No. 19 Cardinals (9-1, 4-1 Big East) can also achieve double-digit victories for the fourth time in school history, all since 2001. Staying within...

Bridgewater set for Rutgers despite injuries

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong said quarterback Teddy Bridgewater would play on Thursday night against Rutgers. Bridgewater broke his left wrist late in the first half of Saturday’s game against Connecticut.

Big East race is well ... confusing

The race for the Big East championship is about as confusing as the future of the beleaguered BCS conference. With just a week remaining in the season — and maybe not much more for a conference that is being poached again — the Big East is on the verge of a four-way tie. In a watered down league, no team wanted to step up and take control. Not Charlie Strong’s Louisville...

Cards fall short in 3 OTs against UConn

Teddy Bridgewater, despite a broken left wrist, rallied Louisville from down 10-0 to force overtime but then threw an interception in the third overtime as the Cardinals fell 23-20 to Connecticut.

Louisville can claim Big East by beating Rutgers

A rough November for Louisville still can end positively for the slumping Cardinals. A victory at first-place Rutgers (9-2, 5-1) on Thursday night would not only snap a two-game losing streak, but give Louisville (9-2, 4-2) the Big East championship and the conference's berth in the Orange Bowl. The Cardinals hold all the tiebreakers: so a win and they're in. Over the past...

Season going downhill for U of L football

Probably the most disheartening thing about Louisville’s 23-20 loss to UConn is the distinct impression that this team hasn’t seemed to get any better since the opening game. The high point of the season was that 36-7 lead over North Carolina in the first half, a game fizzling into a three-point squeaker with UNC moving the ball at will in the second half. The Pitt win was...

Colorado Daily

The Colorado Daily November 25th Never too early to start a list of potential candidates … From Ted Miller at ESPN, who has good a feel for the Pac-12 as anyone right now … The name that certainly will come up is Jeff Tedford, who was fired by California last week. Tedford rebuilt a flagging program in Berkeley from the ground up, but it’s also possible Tedford, who will pocket...

UConn upsets Louisville in OT

Chad Christen's 30-yard field goal in the third overtime gave Connecticut a 23-20 upset of No. 19 Louisville on Saturday. Blidi Wreh-Wilson set up the Huskies' winning score by intercepting Teddy Bridgewater's pass intended for DeVante Parker in the end zone. The Huskies ran three plays for 12 yards before Christen's second OT kick gave Connecticut (5-6, 2-4 Big...
