Found November 25, 2013 on Orange Fizz:
Syracuse loses 17-16 to Pitt. Here’s my knee-jerk reaction: -Let’s not mince words here: The Syracuse passing attack – and by extension the offense in general – is one of the worst in the nation. There is so much pressure on the running backs to produce that anything less than 150-200 yards on the ground means SU will likely lose. Another game, another dismal performance through the air by Terrel Hunt. The Orange is now 106th in the nation in passing yards, 102nd in points scored. Since October 19th, here’s the point totals for SU: 0, 13, 20, 3, 16. Hard to win games like that, and thus the finger has to point at George McDonald. Follow The Fizz on Twitter for the latest SU football news -He is obviously hamstrung by the quarterback. Drew Allen proved early there was a reason he never played at Oklahoma, and Hunt’s arm is scattershot and inconsistent. His TD to Alvin Cornelius was very nice, but those throws happen too infrequently. Shafer also was very short in his compliments ab...

Syracuse Falls to Pittsburgh 17-16 after Plenty of Missed Opportunities

Via Pennlive Follow The Fizz on Twitter for the latest SU football news “Football is a game of six-inch wars. We just came up six inches short.” Coach Shafer repeated this in his press conference following Syracuse’s 17-16 loss to Pitt. Another way to say this: Shafer’s team didn’t take advantage of opportunities. In a one-point loss like this, you can immediately...

Pitt defense settles in after slow start against Syracuse

Pitt's defense didn't inspire fans much on the first drive of the game against the Syracuse offense. Four snaps (all running plays) later, and the Orange were already in the end zone. It looked like it would be a long day for the defense, but they stepped up in a big way after that. Immediately after that, the D forced four consecutive Syracuse punts. Their backs were then...

Video: Syracuse’s C.J. Fair Throws Down Monster Slam, Gets Face Slashed In The Process

Syracuse senior forward C.J. Fair is used to some physical play down inside the paint, but this may be a little overboard. As Fair was throwing down a monster slam Monday night against Minnesota at the Maui Invitational, his faced was slashed, causing blood to splatter everywhere. Somehow, it wasn’t called a foul either. Fair, after being cleaned up, was able to return to the...

Hoops Preview: Gophers vs. Syracuse

The beginning of the season, and the Richard Pitino Era, couldn't have gotten off to a much better start with the Gophers sitting at 5-0.  They've beaten up the cupcakes, survived a tough road game against a decent opponent, and proved good enough to battle a better than expected Coastal Carolina game and come out with a victory.  Now things get really interested, before...

Syracuse: Scott Shafer's Job Is Harder Than You Think

Sometimes you really don't know how hard something is until you actually do it. People can help try prepare you by giving you as much advice as possible, but when things are all said and done, to truly understand the difficulty of something, one must experience it themselves. So many times friends, family and acquaintances told me the house buying process was one of the most...
