The Good:

Matt McGloin led the Penn State Nittany Lions to a .500 record and a two game winning streak to bounce back from a 0-2 start.

McGloin threw for 318 yards and a touchdown while completing 67% of his passes. He was able to distribute the ball and spread the field as he connected with nine different Lion receivers.

In what McGloin considered to be the best defense he has faced this season, he thrived in every aspect. He also went out of character and scrambled out of the pocket for two touchdowns. He did toss an interception, which hit his receiver’s hands.

The Bad:

Temples’ defense let Penn State gain 491 total yards. Entering the game, the Owls’ pass defense had not allowed a passer to breach the 200-yard mark. McGlion went for 318. After allowing 212 rush yards against Villanova and 144 against Maryland, the rushing defensive struggle considered.

The Nittany Lions used a balanced rushing attack between the duo of Zach Zwinak and Michael Zordich to combine for 169 of the total 173 yards on the day.

The Ugly:

Temple playing Penn State. Period. The NCAA’s longest active losing streak to any opponent continued with the Owls at a count that now extends to 30.

The Owls last beat Penn State 14-0 in 1941. Penn State’s domination of Temple dates back to 1952. To put this rivalry dominance into perspective, the last time that Temple had a winning season was 1990. In 1990, the Nittany Lions beat the Owls 48-10.
