South Florida answered again with a touchdown of their own by Demetris Murry for a 4 Yard TD Run, but Temple still led 23-21 with 1:19 left in the third quarter.

Temple RB Matt Brown was injured on a play midway through the fourth quarter, but they still managed to add another touchdown coming from Montel Harris’ three yard TD Run. It was Harris’ first touchdown as a Temple Owl. Temple led 30-21 with 7:29 left in the fourth quarter. South Florida made it interesting with a touchdown by QB B.J. Daniels, a one yard touchdown run. Temple still held onto their lead 30-28 with 5:19 left in the fourth quarter. South Florida had a fourth down and could not pick it up, but there was a roughing the passer penalty on Temple which moved the ball down to Temple’s 32 yard line.  A field goal attempt by South Florida to take the lead and win the game was blocked by Temple’s Marcus Green. After the blocked field goal, Temple RB Monte Harris scored an insurance touchdown from 35 Yards. Temple ends up beating South Florida 37-28 and is the team’s first Big East win since 2004.

Post game, Temple Coach, Steve Addazio said,  ”It was an emotional win for Temple to be Back in Big East Conference,” and the blocked field goal was a big play in the game. Also Addazio said that, “this was an emotional win for me being at Temple.”  He also mentioned that the “Field goal by McManus to end the first half was huge for him.   Brandon is a big time player.”
