When you’re playing behind one of the best quarterbacks in the country, it’s hard to really get much of an opportunity to shine. Fortunately for Louisville back-up quarterback Will Gardner, due to Louisville’s overwhelming leads, he’s played in three of the four games so far this season.
“He’s done really well,” Shawn Watson said following Tuesday’s practice. “He’s going to be a great player, he is a great layer right now. He just happens to have the best player in college football playing ahead of him, but he’s benefited greatly from that.”
In three games, Gardner has completed seven-of-ten passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. His most impressive performance came on Saturday against FIU, when he completed all five passing attempts for 42-yards and connected with Michaelee Harris for a touchdown.

Believe it or not, of the over 100 players on the Louisville football roster, only two were five star recruits coming out of high school.
Michael Dyer is one of them; of course he wasn’t actually brought into the collegiate ranks by Louisville. The Arkansas native started his career at Auburn before transferring here over the summer.

According to Rivals.com, the Louisville football program will receive a visit from five star defensive end Chad Thomas this weekend.
Thomas is currently committed to Miami, but is still taking visits. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound prospect is considered to be one of the best defensive ends in the country.
