The Maxwell Award is becoming “The College Fans Choice Award”. Now with a Maxwell Football Club membership any fan can vote on this prestigious award (https://maxwellfootballclub.org/affiliate/1042?destination=memberships/bronze-membership). The Maxwell Award 2011 Watch List is loaded with talent. The Semi Finalist ballot comes out November 1st, and this past week 9 more players were added to the watch list.

Giovani Bernard (North Carolina, RB, Freshman), Tajh Boyd (Clemson, QB, Sophomore), Isaiah Crowell (Georgia, RB, Freshman), Seth Doege (Texas Tech, QB, Junior), Lamar Miller (Miami (Fla), RB, Sophomore) Brock Osweiler (Arizona State, QB, Junior), Bernard Pierce (Temple, RB, Junior) Keith Price (Washington, QB, Sophomore, Tevin Washington (Georgia Tech, QB, Junior)

The Top Candidates-

Although this award has gone to a QB since 2003, I think a RB could potentially run away with the Maxwell Award this year.

Trent Richardson (Alabama, RB, Junior): Richardson on Saturday rushed for 4 touchdowns and 183 yards against Ole Miss. This was his 6th consecutive 100+ yard game. Richardson has 16 total touchdowns on the year. Roll Tide.

LaMichael James (Oregon, RB, Junior): Even though LaMichael James has struggled with injuries and was forced to sit against Arizona State, he is still one the top rushers in the NCAA. He’s rushed for 3 straight games of 200+ yards, and has found the end zone at least once every game.

Robert Griffin III (Baylor, QB, Junior)- Griffin III made it clear he was a candidate the first week of the season against TCU. Although Baylor suffered a loss to Texas A&M this week, Griffin’s stats have been unbelievable this season. He’s thrown 22 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions.

Denard Robinson (Michigan, QB, Junior)- Denard has been tearing apart defenses through the air and on the ground. Robinson has thrown 11 touchdowns and a very high 10 interceptions, but on the ground he nearly has 1,000 yards and has 9 rushing touchdowns.

Other main candidates include-

Andrew Luck (Stanford, QB, Junior), Landry Jones (Oklahoma, QB, Junior), Robert Woods (USC, WR, Sophomore), Geno Smith (West Virginia, QB, Junior), Marcus Lattimore (South Carolina, RB, Sophomore), Montee Ball (Wisconsin, RB, Junior), Ray Graham (Pittsburgh, RB, Junior), Kellen Moore (Boise State, QB, Senior)

Underrated Watch List Players Who Deserve the Semi Finalist Ballot-

Tajh Boyd (Clemson, QB, Sophomore): Boyd has helped lead Clemson to a perfect 7-0 start. He’s thrown 19 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Bernard Pierce (Temple, RB, Junior): Bernard Pierce has 17 touchdowns in 7 games. The Junior RB leads the NCAA in rushing touchdowns.

Ronnie Hillman (San Diego State, RB, Sophomore): Hillman has 5 games with at least 2 touchdowns, and has rushed for over 100+ yards 6 times this season.

Bryant Moniz (Hawaii, QB, Senior): Hawaii has had Timmy Chang, Colt Brennan, and now Bryant Moniz can be added to the Hawaii greats. In one game this year Moniz threw 7 touchdowns! Moniz has 21 total touchdowns on the season, and there’s no doubt Moniz will help lead Hawaii to another Bowl Game this year.
