The Big Ten Conference announced today that ESPN’s Chris Fowler will be the emcee for the annual football luncheon that is held in conjunction with Big Ten Football Media Days.

Wisconsin defensive back Shelton Johnson was named a finalist for the 2012 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®. Johnson, who collected the most community service hours among all Badger football players, is one of 117 finalists for the honor.

It has been one of the hottest summers on record in Madison, but as Tom Mulhern of the Wisconsin State Journal points out, that has not stopped the preparations for the upcoming football season. Find out how the players and coaching staff have continued to plug away with their conditioning sessions.

Brian Bennett of ESPN.com released his list of top wide receivers and tight ends on Wednesday and Wisconsin’s Jared Abbrederis is on the top of the list. Tight end Jacob Pedersen comes in as the highest rated tight end on the list and the No. 8 player overall.

Defensive lineman David Gilbert looks to factor in on the defensive side of the equation by making his presence known as a top pass-rusher. Gilbert is coming back from a broken foot he suffered in the conference opener a season ago. If healthy, he could be a key piece to the puzzle for a program seeking its third consecutive Big Ten Championship,

Switching gears to the hardwood, Marcus Landry continues to be the most impressive of the four former Badgers participating in the NBA Summer League. The Wisconsin native is averaging 11.5 points in his first two games. He and the Phoenix Suns take on the New Orleans Hornets Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. CT. The game can be viewed on NBA TV.
