This morning Penn State will begin its third and technically final week of training camp prior to the 2013 season. Next week will be a regular season game preparation week and Bill O'Brien will have the team exclusively focused on playing Syracuse. The enormous elephant in Penn State's locker room is who will be named the starting quarterback this week. Last week O'Brien made it clear that the competition is even and that he may need a bit more time to make his final decision. I fully expect that decision to come in the beginning of this week (hopefully today) so that whoever he chooses can take all of the first team reps for the remainder of the summer.

Beyond the quarterback competition between Christian Hackenberg and Tyler Ferguson, Penn State's camp has progressed without any major developments or problems. No news in this situation is good news because of Penn State's roster limitations. For the most part the starting roles have been decided, the position rotations and the players who will see significant time have become clear, and the system schemes have been installed.

There has been some limited injury news. Brad Bars and Brent Wilkerson are out for significant time if not the entire season, and some key players have been limited in contact drills. Fortunately, there have not been any major injuries to any projected starters and I expect O'Brien to make sure this remains the case for the rest of camp.

Keep it here for any QB and general camp updates as we continue to approach that wonderfully glorious date of August 31st in the new MetLife Stadium.
