The defensive backfield for the West Virginia Mountaineers football team ran into some legal trouble over the weekend.Safeties Karl Joseph and Travis Bell were each arrested for seperate incidents. Joseph has been charged with DUI under 21 and possession of false ID. Meanwhile, Bell was arrested for misdemeanor domestic battery.Police stopped Joseph in the early morning hours Sunday after officers spotted him driving without headlights on. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers noticed that Joseph had bloodshot eyes and smelled heavily of alcohol. He failed two sobriety tests and reportedly had a blood-alchol level of 0.054.When officers asked for Joseph's identification, he handed them the driver's license of teammate Isaiah Bruce, who is older than 21.Joseph was released on $300 bond and could face fines of up to $600 for the charges. The 19-year-old started every game for WVU last season and led the team with 95 tackles. On Sunday afternoon, Bell was jailed after a woman alleged that the junior safety struck her multiple times and threw her to the ground. Bell reportedly lives with the victim and the two have a child together.Bell, a native of Belle Glade, Fla., has since been freed on $7,400 bond. He recorded nine tackles and one sack for the Mountaineers in 2012.“I have been made aware of the situation, and I am gathering facts at this time. I will take appropriate action when all the facts are in,” said Dana Holgorsen in a statement.Via CBS Sports
