Cal quarterback Jared Goff is third in the country with just over 360 passing yards per game. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Or at 78 degrees in the Rose Bowl. Either one works for UCLA (4-0) as they take on the Cal. Bears (1-4) at 7:30 this Saturday looking to revenge their 43-17 loss last year. The Cal. Bears boast an impressive 402 passing yards per game this season, but with a season-ending injury to offensive lineman Chris Adcock (center) and a Bruins secondary that is getting better with every game, the Bears are sure to have a tough time moving the ball. While the Bears are still not to be taken lightly with Jared Goff third in the nation in yards per game, UCLA definitely has the upper hand. On top of their offensive woes, the Bears have also been plagued by injury on the defensive side of the ball. After last week’s 44-22 loss to Washington State, they were down to just 3 healthy cornerbacks. Rumor is that Cal. may even move a couple wide receivers to cornerbacks during certain drives. And while we’re at it, let’s remember that Clancy Pendergast, former Cal. defensive coordinator, who baffled the Bruins offense last year, is now at USC. Another check for UCLA. The Bruins offense should look to continue their domination as usual, but don’t look for anything too special. With Stanford and Oregon in the coming weeks, Noel Mazzone won’t want to give away too much for them to see on film. On the same thought, expect Brett Hundley to be out of the game as soon as a comfortable lead is established. This could be a great game to get Jerry Neuheisel some playing experience and keep Hundley healthy for the next couple weeks. Looking at this game, it is easy to see why most everyone has already marked down a W for the Bruins. All the stats and facts aside, the Bruins will come out hungry for a great revenge win.
