Have you had your fill of doom and gloom articles when it comes to UNC Football’s first game of the season? Good, then let’s move right on to the second game of the season. Or better yet, let’s hope that the Carolina coaching staff can get the players to move forward quickly. Because that is exactly what head coach Fedora’s squad needs to do from this morning on. The game against South Carolina is over and done. It was not pretty. It was not close to what many were expecting, or better said, hoping for. Nothing anyone can do about it. The last thing that the Tar Heels need is that the lingering of this game brings another loss as they could not let it go. For all that is UNC Football… be it coaches, players or fans, say it with me… bring on Middle Tennessee State. We will think about beating the other Carolina another time, another year. We will dwell on how to get a win against the Southeastern Conference, but not now, now it’s time to look forward to the first of the next eleven games that the 2013 season has in store for Carolina. The team has some extra days to recoup from this game and get the game plan down for its home opener. Gone has to be the last game, vanished just like the miles behind the squad as they trek back from Columbia to Chapel Hill. Gone will be All American Javedeon Clowney and the speed of an SEC team, but in front of the Tar Heels will be a team who is looking to get a signature win. Just like UNC Football was trying to do last night. So, the team needs to stop thinking about South Carolina, but remember the drive and determination they had in wanting to take down the giant from the most powerful conference in college football, and think that MTSU will be looking for their upset. The Heels will go from being a double digit underdogs to probably an even bigger favorite. They will play in the friendly combine of Kenan Stadium for the first time in 2013. They will have nothing to gain and everything to lose against the Blue Raiders. They can not have anything else but that on their minds, so the thoughts of what happened at Williams-Brice stadium needs to be over and done and the focus all on the second game of the year.
