Courtney Upshaw doesn't appear to have too much to prove to NFL teams at this week's Senior Bowl.
The former Alabama linebacker is a projected first-round draft pick and possible top 10 selection. He says he wanted to play in the showcase game for top senior prospects to ''compete with the best.''
Upshaw is working at defensive end, but says it's not a hard transition since he often played a similar role in the Crimson Tide's three-man front. The Butkus and Lombardi Award finalist was the defensive MVP of the national championship game against LSU.
Upshaw is the most high-profile of five former Tide players going through practices ahead of Saturday's game. Receiver Marquis Maze, center William Vlachos, tight end Brad Smelley and cornerback DeQuan Menzie are also participating.
