If No. 21 Southern California even hopes to think about a big finish to its disappointing season, the Trojans realize they must improve on defense.
After the worst defensive game in USC history last week, almost anything at all would be an improvement Saturday against Arizona State.
USC (6-3, 4-3 Pac-12) hosts the slumping Sun Devils (5-4, 3-3) in what's essentially an elimination game for the Pac-12 South title. Two prolific offenses will face two inconsistent defenses, but coach Lane Kiffin doesn't think the Trojans can score their way out of a two-game skid.
The USC offense led by Matt Barkley and receivers Robert Woods and Marqise Lee has scored at least 36 points in four of the last five games, but will face the Pac-12's best pass defense.

After yielding an atrocious 730 yards of offense in last week’s 62-51 loss to Oregon, embattled University of Southern California (USC) head coach Lane Kiffin is under intense scrutiny to axe the team’s defensive coordinator, his 72-year-old father, Monte. The … Continue reading →
As they entered the practice facility to set up the field for Thursday morning's workout, USC Coach Lane Kiffin and football student managers declined to comment about the latest controversy surrounding the Trojans.
The Pac-12 Conference reprimanded and fined USC because a student manager intentionally deflated, below NCAA-regulated levels, several balls used by the Trojans...
Southern California: In the matter of the curiously, and criminally (in terms of NCAA rules) deflated footballs and coach with the over-inflated sense of self, the question is not whether we can believe Lane Kiffin – we already know that we cannot – but whether we should here.
On Wednesday USC reported that it had fired a student manager who deflated footballs that the Trojans’...
It seems that controversy just seems to continue to show up at the doorstep of the USC football program this season. Of course, most of it is Lane Kiffin’s doing, since he foolishly lied about his coaches’ poll vote and even more foolishly briefly banned a reporter from USC’s practices for doing his job.
Add in the fact that visiting teams were banned from walkthroughs at the...
USC’s Head Coach Lane Kiffin has done some pretty shady stuff during his time as a College Football Head Coach. Whether it’s piling up secondary NCAA violations at Tennessee, or having his backup quarterback wear his kickers’ jersey, he’s built up quite a reputation for himself. This time though, USC is in the headlines for something a Student Manager did.On USC’s website...
It’s no secret that USC has been one of the most disappointing teams in college football this season, and it’s also no secret that while the offense struggled early on, it’s been the defense of late which has been the problem.
As things stand the Trojans rank 66th nationally and are allowing 406 yards per game, numbers that are actually a bit deceptive when you look at the...
USC Coach Lane Kiffin speaks with the media following the Trojans Thursday practice.
The USC Trojans’ dream season has run off the rails, but while the three-loss Trojans won’t be in the BCS title game, they still have a shot to end the year in Pasadena in the Rose Bowl.
To get there, they’ll have to put their focus back on the field and away from the hype and distractions that have turned their once-promising season into a disappointment.
The Trojans host...
USC Coach Lane Kiffin says no one on the coaching staff or team knew about a student-manager deflating game balls during the Trojans' game against Oregon.
Tweet Whether or not he had anything to do with it, Lane Kiffin is the most entertaining head coach in college football. Per the university’s website, the USC Trojans have been fined by the Pac-12 for under-inflated game balls that were used in USC’s loss to the Oregon Ducks Saturday Nov. 3: Game officials discovered [...]

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Southern California center Omar Oraby (ore-ROB-ee) had his hardship waiver petition approved by the NCAA and will be eligible to play in the Trojans' season opener on Friday night.
The school says it was notified by the NCAA on Thursday that Oraby is eligible immediately. The 7-foot-2 center from Egypt transferred to USC in September after playing two seasons...
LOS ANGELES - In a game that saw a total nine turnovers, uncharacteristic penalties and a tremendous defensive effort, the USC Trojans proved to be too much for the Arizona State Sun Devils to handle in the Los Angeles Coliseum, beating the Sun Devils 38-17.
