Vanderbilt Commodores fullback Marc Panu shows us why perseverance does pay off.
In the Commodores new auditorium a week into preseason camp, head coach James Franklin addressed his team, and asked them, "You want to watch a guy who is trying to find a role on this team?"
"I want you to focus on Panu," says Franklin, "a guy that keeps his mouth shut and loves being apart of this team."
After watching a series of impressive blocks by the fullback, Franklin holds up a piece of paper and says, "That's why I'm so proud to let Marc Panu know that he's got a full scholarship."
Panu is a four-year walk-on working on an engineering undergraduate degree, and he had no clue this would happen, either did his teammates, who went nuts when they heard the news.
"He's a great example to everybody in this room. If you have a great attitude and compete in everything you do; if you're willing to sacrifice for others, good things happen," Franklin concludes.
