So much for Virginia Tech’s vaunted defense. Boston College, which came painfully close to upsets over both Clemson and Florida State, is all over the Hokies in Chestnut Hill this afternoon. The Eagles have put up 34 points on their ACC counterpart – the most since Alabama scored 35 on the Hokies in the season opener. The latest score came on a 62-yard scamper by Andre Williams. It’s looking like the dagger. Check it out:
BEST OF MAXIM
Over the past decade-plus under Frank Beamer, as the program surged to the forefront of the Big East and now the ACC, Virginia Tech has boasted some quality signal-callers.
Starting, of course, with a phenom named Michael Vick in 1999, the Hokies have been led by the likes of Bryan Randall and Tyrod Taylor all three of whom led Beamer's program to a BCS bowl; Vick carried them...
As the game happened I was very skeptical of Addazio's clock management before the half and our seeming lack of adjustments throughout the game. But watching back you see that those things weren't really part of the problem. BC didn't play great, but played well enough to win and that is a credit to Addazio. The lack of adjustments -- or long stretches where what worked...
This is a critical game for a variety of reasons but most importantly because we don't have much room for error in our path to a bowl game. Virginia Tech tends to play down to their opponent, which should make this interesting. Leave your thoughts and comments below. You can also follow me on twitter.
The opening day loss to top-ranked Alabama was expected.

Virginia Tech vs. Boston College
Who responds better after a disappointing effort last week? Virginia Tech's offense was horrific against Duke, and Boston College had a terrible outing against the passing game on both offense and defense. If Boston College is going to spring an upset here, Chase Rettig needs to have a big game passing. Andre...
