Typically, when you ask a group of 70,000 fans to do something in unison, you’ll get mixed results. Using cards to form patterns has been tried over and over again– sometimes it works like a charm and the results are really great, others it fails miserably.
Yesterday, the Iowa Hawkeyes’ football fans were given two-sided placards to be used during the Hawkeye band’s performance of the Star Spangled Banner. One side was black (or gold) with the flipside being either red, white, or blue.
As the song went on, the placards were flipped, revealing a very impressive flag pattern across the stadium.
A very cool sight for sure. Kudos to the Iowa Hawkeyes fans.
