In this week’s Twitter Mailbag, we’ll talk about Andrew Maxwell’s improvements at QB, how good Notre Dame really is, and those pesky Northwestern Wildcats. We’re back after a one week hiatus (we didn’t plan on it being a hiatus, no one asked any questions). Let’s get started.

What do you think of Maxwell? And is MSU that bad or Notre Dame that good? (@JB1544)

Andrew Maxwell is better than people think. He gets a lot of incompletions because of the wide receivers’ inability to get open, even when the defense is blitzing. Also, MSU isn’t as good as we thought and Notre Dame is better than we expected. There are a lot of worries I still have about MSU, but the Spartans took a lot of things from that game that they still have to learn.

Which unranked B1G team is most likely to upset the Spartans? (@FreeBigMacs)

Hey! Look! The guy who created one of BOTRC’s new logos! Anyways, to the question. MSU’s schedule against unranked teams is Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Iowa. Northwestern has the best chance of beating MSU. Northwestern is underrated (they already have 3 wins against BCS AQs: Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Boston College), and they ALWAYS SEEM TO MAKE THEIR GAMES WITH MSU CLOSE. Although the game is at home, the Spartans proved last Saturday that even home field advantage can’t make some games close. The Spartans will most likely beat Northwestern, but if the Wildcats pulled off the upset I wouldn’t be surprised.

Why does the QB suck so much? (@MavsRaccoon)

I think your question should be “Does the QB suck?”, and the answer to that would be no. I can’t answer this question, because Andrew Maxwell doesn’t suck. He’s getting a lot of heat because, frankly, the lack of talent at wide receiver is really overshadowing Maxwell’s improvements throughout the season.

That sums it up for this week’s Twitter Mailbag! Thanks for reading.

Michigan State Vs. Eastern Michigan Preview

This week, Andrew Maxwell and the Michigan State Spartans are taking on the 0-3 Eastern Michigan Eagles at 3:30 PM on Big Ten Network. Last week, in my Notre Dame preview, I stated that one of the keys to the game was the Spartans offensive line. Wow, did I nail that one right on the head. The O-Line collapsed and MSU got crushed. Anyways, on to the game preview. In the Q&A...

Versatility helps Thomas fit into MSU lineup

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Lawrence Thomas calls himself a child of God and a mommas boy, and does so with a smile. Thomas is as sure of those claims as he was of choosing Michigan State -- which was the only school the state's top high school senior, out of the Detroit Renaissance, visited in 2010. What's up for debate is what position Thomas should play. The 6-foot-3, 283...

Spartans must try again to recover from Notre Dame

(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By NOAH TRISTER AP Sports Writer For the second straight year, Michigan State has to recover from a lopsided early loss to Notre Dame. Michigan State allowed a couple first-half touchdowns and never really recovered in a 20-3 loss to the Irish on Saturday night. It was a rare home defeat for the Spartans and put a damper on what had been an impressive...

Notre Dame at Fenway? The blame game at Mich. St., and more.

Big Tentacles   -  The SWRT look at the Big Ten, and its sway over the college football landscape. My bad. No, my bad! No! My bad.  Michigan State head football coach Mark Dantonio, starting quarterback Andrew Maxwell, and wide receiver Bennie Fowler took their share of the blame for the Spartans' loss to Notre Dame. (The Detroit Free Press) I see the future,...

Michigan State Football: What needs to happen against Eastern Michigan

Michigan State is definitely the favorite to win tomorrow against the 0-3 Eagles, and the Spartans definitely want to make a statement after their poor performance last week against Notre Dame. “I wish we were playing tomorrow, I wish we were playing today,” said Dantonio in last Tuesday’s press conference. “That’s how we feel. That’s how you feel after what happened...
