The college football offseason is full swing, and several schools are seeing plenty of off-the-field issues from some of its players. The latest arrest happened this past weekend when West Virginia Mountaineers leading tackler on defense, Karl Joseph, was arrested and charged with an underage-DUI. The freshman safety was pulled over early Sunday morning when he was driving around without his headlights on. According to the arresting officers, Joseph had ‘bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol.’ He was given two field sobriety tests and failed both. Since when is there a retake? Joseph actually registered a blood-alcohol level lower than legal limit for those over 21, but it was well over the for those under 21 (.02). Which begs the questions, isn’t drinking under 21 illegal, anyway? Joseph ended up with a charge for underage-DUI and for using a fake ID. Oh yeah, he thought it would be wise to use a teammates driver license. WVU linebacker Isaiah Bruce’s DL was in Joseph’s possession. Bruce happens to be over 21. Head coach Dana Holgorsen said the team is still in the fact-gathering stage. Not sure what other facts are needed when an underage kid gets busted for drinking and driving? [...]
