Everyone in the football world – including yours truly- has told you how good Andrew Luck is, and how sure of an NFL stud he’ll be to the team (likely Indianapolis) that selects him as their quarterback. However, there are holes in his game, and Stanford’s loss to new Pac-10 power Oregon last weekend exposed a couple. I’ll always felt (actually, I’ve learned it) that the best way to evaluate a college player is to watch him against the best competition he’ll face. How does he play in a rivalry game? Does he respond during struggles? When his bread and butter play, or player is taken away can he adjust? Can he rally back from a deficit? Does he buckle under pressure? Is everything put on his shoulders in tough times, or do the players around him step up? And most importantly, how does he rebound from failure? Usually, what players like Andrew Luck face during those heated battled, those rivalry games, are the caliber of talent and competition they’ll face in the NFL on a regular basi...
