Found August 20, 2012 on Eagle in Atlanta:
Until the Sandusky news broke Spaz was always quick to remind people of his connection to Penn State and Joe Paterno. His loyalty to the school is one of the reasons BC hasn't poached any Penn State recruit (despite having plenty of potential scholarships). So now as we near the end, I hope Spaz follows his former role model into the coaches booth this season. Do we really need him on the sidelines managing games? He never uses his timeouts. He seems to hate the obligatory halftime interview. The players seem to check out any time he gives a "rah rah" peptalk. I have more faith in Doug Martin and Bill McGovern winning games with Spaz removed from the situation than I do with Spaz involved.Spaz's protector is gone and he's probably next. I am sure the man has pride and wants to go out on top, but I am not sure he can be a positive influence. I would prefer if like JoePa's final seasons, he was head coach in name only. This works for everyone. Spaz keeps his ...

Paterno wanted to leave the Big Ten?

The new book coming out this week “Paterno” the biography about legendary(?) coach Joe Paterno has been quoted in many stories so far since its release to the media. We’ve heard about him crying after being fired and learned that he didn’t even know what some of the words meant that Sandusky was being charged of, but reporter<a href="http://www.pennlive.com/midstate...

Author: Paternos never tried to influence book

The author of the new biography of Joe Paterno says the late Penn State coach and his family never tried to limit his access to them after the Jerry Sandusky scandal broke. Joe Posnanski tells The Associated Press none of the Paternos ever tried to influence what he wrote. He said they told him only to write the truth the as best he could. ''Paterno'' was released...

Fear not, Penn St., for you have USC

USC is the preseason No. 1, and my first thought upon hearing that news was Penn State coach Joe Paterno. Mostly, how, wherever he is, he had to be indulging in a moment of "I told you so," which is probably weird because he's dead. This column is not a treatise on the existence of an afterlife or where Paterno may have ended up, if there is an afterlife. And while...

Lions add linebacker recruit to 2012 class

Penn State's all important 2012 recruiting class got a little bigger over the weekend as Hialeah, Fla. linebacker Gary Wooten joined the Nittany Lions. To many fans, it may seem like an odd time to add to the recruiting class this late, but what about this last nine months hasn't been odd for this program. Wooten, a 6-3, 225 pounder, begins practice today. Wooten was actually...

Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin appeared to confirm some suspicions on Friday night. McGloin made headlines by comparing himself to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, saying, "I don't think we're too far apart." But on Friday night, McGloin seemed to admit that he was, in fact, acting in good-natured fun when he made the comment. He issued the following tweet,...

Photo: Penn State TE Adam Breneman received 32 Ole Miss recruiting letters on the same day

Ole Miss really wants Penn State 4-star tight end Adam Breneman to jump ship. They really, really want him— so much so that they sent him 32 handwritten letters. Thirty-two of them! And they all arrived on the same day.
