When it comes to the starting quarterback position for the 2013 Louisville Cardinals, they’ll be no competition for the gig. Teddy Bridgewater, a preseason Heisman candidate has it in the bag. However for the first time in a few years, prior to spring practice, Louisville fans were uncertain who would be the back-up. Now that spring camp is over, it appears that redshirt freshman Will Gardner has landed the second string gig. “Will has taken a big step ahead of everyone else,” Louisville offensive coordinator Shaw Watson said following Saturday’s spring game. The Douglas, Ga., native committed to Louisville in July of 2011, choosing Louisville over Alabama and Mississippi State. He was only rated as a 3-star prospect, but when fans see a kid chose Louisville over Alabama, it’s going to cause some excitement. Unfortunately for Gardner he has had some terrible luck with injuries over the last 18 months. During his senior season Gardner tore his ACL causing him to miss all but two game...
