Russell Wilson's success as a one-year transfer has reaped an unexpected benefit for Wisconsin.
Coach Bret Bielema says Wilson's smooth transition into the program and his emergence as one of the nation's top quarterbacks has caused an uptick in players who want to transfer to the school. He says about 10 players have contacted Wisconsin to discuss possibly finishing their careers as Badgers. Bielema said there usually are about four or five such inquiries at this point in a normal year.
Bielema says he won't accept every transfer, and he's ''overly critical of character'' when he considers them.
Wilson has led the Badgers to Saturday's Big Ten championship game against Michigan State. Through 12 games, he has completed 72.7 percent of his passes for 2,692 yards with 28 touchdowns.
