Standout wide receiver Robbie Anderson will no longer catch passes for the Temple football team. Due to academic issues, Anderson will not be able to attend Temple University. The 6-foot-3 sophomore receiver led the Owls with 44 receptions and racked up 791 yards in 2013. This is not the first time the receiver has left the football team. During the 2012 offseason Anderson went home to Florida to deal with personal issues. Anderson ended up losing his scholarship but would make the team as a walk on. He would sit out the first two games of the regular season until coach Matt Rhule changed his position from cornerback to wide receiver. After making the switch to wide receiver, Anderson and freshman quarterback P.J. Walker clicked. Anderson would score all 9 of his touchdowns in the final 5 games of the season. Temple will miss the threat Anderson brought to the game with his 6-foot-3 frame and his ability to be in sync with the Owls quarterback. Just a day after the news Robbie Anderson would not return to Temple, high school football stars declared where they would play their college football at. 5 high school players signed their national letter of intent to play football for the Owls. And what is even better for the Owls is that 4 out o the 5 players are 6 foot or taller. As winter workouts continue for the Owls football team, do not be surprised to see a couple of freshman on the field when the regular season rolls around, especially with Anderson, the tallest threat, no longer at the university.
