If anything good comes out of the 38-21 loss to Boise State Saturday, it was that UConn looked more comfortable on the field and was able to make a game out of the visiting Broncos. That was until the fourth quarter.

We’ve known for quite a while that UConn Huskies head coach Bob Diaco was going to play two quarterbacks during games. Two weeks ago, we found out those two quarterbacks were going to be Casey Cochran and Chandler Whitmer.
As we know, UConn Huskies QB Chandler Whitmer decided to return to school for his fifth and final year of eligibility.
He didn’t have to do it. He already had his degree from UConn as he graduated last December.
And given how the 2013 season played out for him, you really did think there’s just no way he was coming back especially with a new coach in Bob Diaco coming in.
Connecticut changed football coaches this week.
Next week it plans to change quarterbacks.
Interim coach T.J. Weist took the red shirt off highly touted freshman Tim Boyle Tuesday and announced that Boyle would start over Chandler Whitmer when the Huskies next play on Oct. 12 against South Florida (0-4).
Weist had said Monday that was a possibility.
