TEMPE, Ariz. -- There are two sides to every story, but Arizona State defensive graduate assistant Dan Lanning doesn't exactly deny coach Todd Graham's version of how the two originally connected.
"He was stalking me," Graham says, chuckling before shouting to Lanning, who is standing nearby and chatting with his parents after a spring practice:
On a defense that has already showcased several playmakers this year, one of the pleasant surprises of that group has been Junior College transfer Chris Young. Coming into fall camp as a safety, it took Chris Young some time to convert to the “spur” hybrid linebacker position with the Sun Devils. Now that he has settled in at the position the results are speaking for themselves.
TEMPE, Ariz. -- The city of Yuma is best known for its state prison. That makes sense to Arizona State junior Chris Young. His two years at Arizona Western College felt like solitary confinement.
I was kind of iffy about even going, he said. I never thought of myself going the junior-college route.
It wasnt the school or program that bothered Young. He learned many valuable skills...
