The Minnesota Vikings signed their first pair of draft picks earlier on Tuesday by inking Penn State linebacker Gerald Hodges and Michael Mauti to their rookie contracts. Later today, the Minnesota Vikings also announced the signing their seventh-round pick Everett Dawkins to a four-year contract with the team.

LBs Mauti, Hodges set to lead Penn State defense
The days of Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti beating a sledge hammer against a truck tire, as sweat dripped down his face and arms, are nearly over. The Nittany Lions senior used that exercise as one of many he performed during his rehabilitation from a torn anterior cruciate ligament he sustained last September.

PSU’s Hodges & Hill made some preseason watch lists
Penn State’s football team did end up getting some good news today. Gerald Hodges and Jordan Hill have been named to the preseason watch lists for the Nagurski and Outland awards respectively…that is of course IF Penn State has a football team next year. Assuming they do, you have to think after the seasons these guys put together last year, they’re going to be just as good...
HODGES HONORED AGAIN
Junior linebacker Gerald Hodges has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week a second straight time.
Hodges racked up 19 tackles, including a sack, and forced a fumble in Saturday's snow- and slug-fest with Illinois, a 10-7 Penn State victory. He also broke up two passes.
Hodges also won the award last week, following Penn State's 34-24 victory over Northwestern.
