The Florida offensive line will spend the offseason focusing on replacing the left side of the line, and there will be plenty of talent and options to do so. The departure of left tackle Xavier Nixon and left guard James Wilson will mean two experienced players off the team. The Gators have recruited and added transfers well enough to make up for the loss during the 2013 season.
The Gators finish their season undefeated in the Swamp after a 23-0 shutout over Jacksonville State. James Wilson and Marcus Roberson share their thoughts on the victory, senior day, and next week's match-up against Florida State, right here.
He was one of ten 5-star prospects in the 2007 class. To understand how long he has been in school at Florida, James Wilson signed in the same recruiting class as Pouncey, Pouncey, Rainey, Dunlap, Black, Henry, Haden, Trattou, Wright, Howard, and Thompson, all of which are now playing football in the National Football League and some going on three years. It has been a long road for the big guy.
James Wilson didn’t want to leave Gainesville with the way his career had gone through the first five years. He wanted one more. Wilson approached the Florida coaches during the 2011 season to ask about getting an extra year of eligibility, and the coaches were on his side. After hearing back from the NCAA and the SEC, he got good news for his sixth and final year on the Florida offensive line.
Florida guard James Wilson is seeking a sixth year of eligibility, UF spokesman Dan Apple confirmed. The school has sent its appeal to the NCAA and hopes to hear back before the start of spring practice.
