Joker Phillips caught in a Catch 22
The story has taken on a life of its own. After capturing the SEC Championship for Kentucky in 1950 and defeating No.1 ranked Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, Bear Bryant told the Associated Press that hed been awarded with an engraved cigarette lighter while Adolf Rupp had been given a Cadillac.
The UK faithful have been tamping down the story for more than 60 years. But there is a...

Mobley has had a big season for his Powell High School team that is 13-0, as...

Kentucky Wildcats Football: What is to become of Joker Phillips?
Sometimes I get pegged as the eternal optimist and I frequently catch heat for always trying to find the positives in what might otherwise be seen as a traditionally bad Kentucky football program. To this, I plead guilty. But the progression of the 2011 season has gone to such a sour note that I simply cannot continue to blindly believe things are going to get better. I have...

James Franklin, Joker Phillips to make SEC history today
On the surface, there wouldn’t appear to be anything special about today’s game between Kentucky and Vanderbilt. The two teams have just two combined conference wins this season, although Vandy looks like they may be on the upswing after close games against Georgia, Arkansas and Florida; Kentucky appears to be rebuilding again after a bowl…
