Notre Dame center Braxston Cave has been lost for the rest of the season.
Coach Brian Kelly said Tuesday that Cave will have surgery this week for a ligament problem in one of his feet. The senior starter left Saturday night's game against Wake Forest in the second quarter with what was described as a mid-foot sprain.
