ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Three weeks into rookie kicker Nate Freese's career, the Detroit Lions have decided to part ways.
The Lions are expected to release Freese and replaced him with former Philadelphia Eagles kicker Alex Henery.
Freese was 3-of-7 field goals, including a 41-yard miss at the end of the first half on Sunday against Green Bay.
The Lions have seen enough and the plan is to release kicker Nate Freese today after the rookie missed another field goal opportunity late in the first half yesterday against Green Bay. In turn the team plans to sign Nebraska Cornhusker and former Eagles kicker Alex Henery who worked out for the team last week according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Henery was among the free agent kickers that worked out for Detroit last week and given that Freese missed yet another field goal in Sunday’s win over the Packers, it makes sense that they would consider moving on.
