LBSU's Ennis laying foundation for NBA career
At the conclusion of Long Beach States Big West championship tournament run, James Ennis dejectedly told the media that he felt that he let his team down. His coach, Dan Monson, defended his star forward, saying that if Ennis is guilty of caring too much, Monsons proud of that.
Ennis and Monson gathered their things and left the Honda Center.
But there was still one question...

Long Beach State squeaks by Cal Poly SLO
Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo knows how to play a frustrating brand of basketball.
The defensive-minded Mustangs bleed the clock out running half-court sets, aggressively box up the ball handlers and frustrate even the sharpest of shooters just ask UCLA.
But Long Beach State played through the frustration and grinded out a 50-48 win Saturday afternoon, effectively avenging its loss...

Long Beach State faces brutal road stretch
At the conclusion of every Long Beach State mens basketball practice, the team comes together in a circle. Head coach Dan Monson talks about what the team must do to win, not from a basketball standpoint, but often from a mental standpoint.
Early on Tuesday morning, following a 64-59 home loss to Fresno State, a somewhat beleaguered group listened as Monson discussed the teams identity...

UNC Basketball: Carolina is 3-0 after defeating Long Beach State
Head coach Roy Williams vs Long Beach StateUNC Basketball played it’s first road game on Friday (sorry that this recap is so late) and the team played like the talented, but young, squad team they are. When it was over #11 North Carolina (3-0) took care of Long Beach State (1-2) by the final of 78 to 63, which was pretty close to my 75 to 65 prediction in my preview. This game...

Long Beach State has the Greatest Basketball Jerseys of all Time
Nike pissed me off today, because when I went to go find a nice replica t-shirt of the same format type as Long Beach State basketball's jerseys, I was unable to find any. ******* Nike, I guess Under Armour has defeated you after all. Anyways, "The Beach" won March Madness without even winning one game in the NCAA Tournament. I decided, so it's official. In...
Long Beach State's Ware has 'the look'
Last Saturday before Long Beach State's game against UC Santa Barbara in the Big West Tournament Championship, Casper Ware had "that look in his eye," according to his head coach Dan Monson.
"He just had a look and it was contagious," Monson said. "It was a look of 'we're doing this.'"
When Ware has that look, it normally spells doom...

Long Beach State-Pacific women’s basketball game postponed after nine players hospitalized with an illness
During cold and flu season, we always have to worry about illness affecting a team’s ability to prepare for a game. It seems like we deal with the issue every year during the NFL playoffs. Eli Manning was ill during the week leading up to the NFC Championship and Matt Light was reportedly struggling with some sort of bug the week before the Super Bowl. Fortunately, neither illness...

Game 3: Long Beach State - The More You Know
Well that certainly was an interesting game against Rider. An ugly win is still a win though. Not sure how it'll look in the RPI later considering that Rider lost by 26 to Robert Morris and 18 to Drexel at 6am yesterday morning. On a positive note though, the dynamic duo simply known as Ash-Tray (Gibbs and Woodall) have scored a combined 87 points through two games. That...
