Cameron Payne plans to enter the 2015 NBA Draft and leave Murray State.
Team executives who expect to be picking in the late lottery range told Yahoo Sports they expect Payne to be a prospect they'll have to consider.
Payne has been working cooperatively with Murray State coach Steve Prohm throughout the process, sources said.
One of March’s maddest moments came from the NIT of all places.
Old Dominion is moving on to the NIT semifinals after a thrilling 72-69 win over Murray State. The game was exciting from beginning to end, but it’s the finish that has to be seen to believe.
With just seconds to play and having to inbound from underneath its own basket, Old Dominion looked like it was going to have...
The next 48 hours will be filled with “bubble talk” by NCAA college football fans and would be bracketologists. “Last four in” “first four out” will be popular terms as the merits of the final teams are debated by the…Read more →
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Let’s get weird, NCAA selection committee. In one day, the SEC lost probably one and perhaps two teams in...
Taylor Barnette hit an improbable three-pointer with three seconds remaining in Saturday’s Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship game to give Belmont the victory and an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. The team on the losing end, Murray State, is forced to wait until Selection Sunday to see if they will be part of the...Read More
I love March Madness. There’s nothing like watching teams from small conferences battle it out for the opportunity to earn a spot on the big stage.
However, I’m not suggesting that the process is perfect. Every year, it seems there’s a No. 1 seed that gets upset in the conference tournament and misses out on a chance to play in the Big Dance.
It could happen again this spring...
Belmont and Murray State staged the best game of the entire season Saturday night in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament final. Unfortunately, the wrong team won.
Murray State had a perfect record of 16-0 in conference play this season. Yet, CBS will probably be showing America a room full of dejected Racers next Sunday when the NCAA tournament field is announced. Them’s the...
The first automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Tournament was handed out on Saturday night in Nashville, Tennessee. The way in which the Belmont Bruins earned their way into the field of 68 could not have been more dramatic.
Belmont and its opponent, the Murray State Racers, basically traded basketball haymakers for 40 minutes. The two teams either tossed in one outrageously long three...
Murray State pitcher John Lollar has the highest leg kick in the history of baseball on any planet. It’s science. He doesn’t have any tendons or ligaments and his body is composed of 40% elastic. Fine, that’s a lie. 40% elastic? You bought that?
Seriously, watch this leg kick and then try to replicate it. Warning: have plenty of ice and an orthopedic surgeon...
John Lollar is more flexible than you.
Lollar is a pitcher for the Murray State baseball team, and he’s ascended to relative baseball Internet fame thanks to what he’s able to do with his left leg, specifically during his windup.
Jeff Drummond was able to capture Lollar’s crazy windup on film, and it should put yoga instructors (not to mention Orlando Hernandez) to shame. Lollar’s...
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Guard Cameron Payne of Murray State has been named the Ohio Valley Conference player of the year, and Steve Prohm is the league's coach of the year after leading the Racers to a perfect season and a Top 25 ranking.
The OVC announced their awards and all-league team Tuesday.
Payne averaged 20.2 points and 5.7 assists helping Murray State win its 24th OVC regular...

I’ve said it all week so I guess I might as well say it again. I absolutely hate when teams from BCS conferences play against FCS opponents. IMO, there is very little you can actually take away from it. Therefore, I’ll let Bobby Petrino share his thoughts. Stay tuned to The Cardinal Connect for more coverage of Saturday’s win.

I’m feeling pretty good about my prediction record having gone 3 for 3 in week 1 against Miami – Gardner won the battle of the newcomer QBs which was more or less the difference in the game, our front seven dominated the Miami offensive line, and our special teams came up with a huge touchdown immediately after Miami took their only lead of the game, giving...
Game two already, Murray State Saturday.
Between practices during a short week for University of Louisville football, Bobby Petrino squeezed in a session with the media. No major injuries against Miami, getting better as individuals, refining technical aspects, with a goal of showing up fresh physically and mentally, respecting the opponent.
Michael Dyer is still nursing...

I have no problem admitting that I’m totally not a fan of playing FCS opponents each season. That said, I understand the reasoning behind it. Every FBS program needs at least one gimme win and the FCS schools get paid a boatload of money to get their brains beat in.
Seeing your team blowout at inferior opponent can be entertaining, especially...
Jeffery Moss and Cameron Payne both scored 16 points as Murray State won its eighth straight, turning away Jacksonville State, 73-65 Saturday night.
Brian Williams made the first of two free throws with 41 seconds left to cut the Racers' lead to four points, 69-65, but Jarvis Williams hit a pair of free throws and capped the scoring with a dunk to put the game away.

Cameron Payne scored seven points in the final 1:22 to carry Murray State to a 70-66 comeback victory on Thursday night at Eastern Illinois.
Payne's basket with 1:21 left gave the Racers the lead for good at 63-62. His 3-pointer on the next Racers possession made it a four-point lead with 22 seconds to go.
After a layup by Sherman Blanford cut the score to 66-64, Payne made both...

Brandon Wicks (Murray, Ky.) earned second-team honors after leading the team in tackles for the third time in his career. Wicks led the OVC with 60 solo tackles and was tied for third with 98 total stops. He also added two interceptions, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He registered four double-digit tackle games, including 10 solo stops in the victory over Jacksonvill...
Southern Illinois coach Barry Hinson lambasted his players after a loss at Murray State, calling them ''uncoachable,'' a ''bunch of mama's boys'' and comparing disciplining his young team to housebreaking a puppy.
Hinson was not made available for comment Wednesday morning. He's holding a regularly scheduled news conference in the afternoon. He told ESPN.com that his only regret...

Last night, Southern Illinois lost to Murray State 73-65, dropping the Salukis’ record to 2-8 on the season. Naturally, head coach Barry Hinson is not pleased with the current performance of his team, and he has finally had enough — last night he absolutely blew up in postgame press conference.
His references are just pure comedy gold — he explodes about how awful his team...

Southern Illinois head basketball coach, Bobby Hinson, absolutely lost his mind last night after the Salukies dropped a tough one to the Murray State Racers 73-65. He went on to compare his players to little puppies and mama’s boys, even stating his wife could do better.
This loss drops SIU to 2-8 on the year and Mr. Hinson apparently had seen enough after they shot 38% from the...
